Comments from the Crew
Bryan was unavailable for recording this time. See what happens when I pick a co-host who actually has a life? (heh)

In any case, this is a short and sweet episode, just under an hour, so that when Bryan and I can get together again for recording, we're not bogged down with a lot of extra material that I'd like to get out to everyone. So, I hope you enjoyed this episode and we'll talk to you again soon, either in Episode XIX or in our first movie commentary which will be Superman: The Movie.

Star Trek Aurora

startrekaurora.gifThe USS Aurora is ready to leave dock!

This ambitious fanfilm series is one of the first of its kind. It's a four part series done completely in CG. The Aurora takes to the stars between the original series and the Star Trek: The Motion Picture. The story revolves around a group of merchanteers, just trying to make their way in the universe. To quote the creator:

...the many civilians that Kirk's Enterprise encountered in the original series: as a kid, I would see these jumpsuit-clad people on this planet or that station and wonder more about their stories. It seemed to me that you'd have to be almost as courageous as the Enterprise crew to leave Earth behind and put yourself out there in that very same unpredicable and sometimes hostile galaxy–but without a heavily armed starship at your disposal!
There is no set release date for the next chapters since they will be released as completed, and the unique CG format is no easy process. We'll try to keep you posted as more information comes along.

Done the Impossible

A fantastic Documentary made by the ones that love, has been released: From their website DoneTheImpossible.com:
The story of the rise and fall and rebirth of the cult TV show "Firefly," as told from the perspective of the fans who helped save it. The creators of FireflyMovie.com (a.k.a. SerenityMovie.net) have teamed with with a group of creative professionals / Firefly fans to tell our story, the fan's story - the story of the Browncoats. Firefly has grown beyond just the genius of Joss Whedon -- just as he intended it to. In many ways the words Firefly and Browncoat have come to symbolize a sense of community, family, and believing that the impossible can be accomplished. These concepts are at the very heart of Firefly and of its fans. In this documentary, the fans explain what inspired them to become passionate about Firefly, to help save Firefly, attend shindigs, participate in message boards, donate to charities, and become Serenity extras. They talk about the many ways that Firefly has affected their lives. Cast and crew also share humorous and insightful experiences with the fans.
This amazing documentary is hosted by Adam Baldwin (Jayne Cobb), and features interviews and anicdotes from cast and crew of both Firefly and Serenity. There are two versions available. You can buy the DVD, with all proceeds going to Equality Now, or you can download a free version, sans extras. I am a huge fan of free content, but this DVD demands to sit on my shelf.

Star Wars Simultaneously

You've seen the Star Wars movies, right? Of course you have. Everyone has. But have you seen two of them at the same time? Ok, I have compared the differences of the DVD copy to the origianl VHS, but that day the cable was out. Here's another question for you. Have you seen all six Star Wars movies..... at the same time? Now you can. Although not how you're thinking. Jacob Kafka at weirdhat.com has created the ultimate remix. Star Wars Simultaneously. And yes, that title is accurate. You can now watch all six Star Wars movies at the same time. On top of each other. As silly as that sounds, you will be surprised at how similar the films can be at certain places. I don't know about you guys, but I'm going to try some other great series at the same time. I wonder how Raimi's Evil Dead series will run?

Thanks to the lovely Lady of Sci Fi, Lynne Gryphon. You can find other great news on her Vidcast, at lynne.libsyn.com
